January is over, how’s your New Year coming along? How well have you kept your beauty resolutions so far?
While you can’t turn back the hands of time, now is the best time to and kick it into high gear and embrace 2015 looking and feeling younger! Yes, that’s right. Just because another year has passed doesn’t mean you have to show dead giveaways that you look one (or more) year older.
Here are five simple ways to look your absolute best in 2021
- Sun protection. When you look in the mirror and see another annoying wrinkle on your forehead to add to your collection, it’s high time you go steady with sunscreen. Remember, a huge cause of premature skin aging is exposure to ultraviolet light commonly known as UVA or UVB. Dermatologists recommend using a broad-spectrum sunscreen all year long with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 30, which blocks 97% of the sun’s harmful UV rays.
- Sleep better. So many things to do, so little time. You’ve been really busy in 2020 and we bet 2021 isn’t slated to go easy on your schedule either. Work deadlines, family life and other social activities are sure to eat a huge chunk of your day, but this year, remember to work on developing healthy sleeping habits. Proper sleep makes your memory sharper, improves your mood, prevents overeating and makes you happier!
- Hydrate. Aging is only natural. We can’t stop it but we sure can find ways not to look older than our age. Drink lots of water and keep every inch of your body hydrated all day! Stop drinking sugar-pumped drinks like soft drinks, milkshakes and juices. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty. Take a water bottle with you wherever you go and train your body to drink water all throughout the day.
- Stop smoking. Smoking accelerates aging. If you do smoke, quitting is your best fighting chance to avoid accelerated aging and lower your risk for certain types of cancers. If you don’t smoke but live with a smoker, make sure you impose smoke-free rules at home. Secondhand smoke is a known cause of visible signs of aging and is very dangerous to health.
- Consult. If you have any concern about your skin, see a dermatologist right away. Every person has individual needs and the same applies for your skin. Talk to your dermatologist about your eating habits, your skin regimens, your daily activities and work on a plan to make sure you’re giving your skin the best treatment it deserves!
